Medical interpretation requires certain medical knowledge and advanced communication skill.
Insufficient understanding of medical terms, translation with inappropriate expressions, and so on could occur when family members or friends who do not have the knowledge or skill act as a medical interpreter; and personal feeling toward the patient could also lead to mistranslation or misunderstanding between healthcare professionals. As a result those risks may lead to patient’s disadvantage.
Please take notice of the risks when family members or friends need to help the patient as interpreters.
We provide interpretation service in 31 languages for free. No cost will be charged to patients.
